VERA FARRINGTON FOUNDER
Vera Farrington is a retired Palm Beach County educator with 37 years in the public school system. As an educator, Mrs. Farrington’s dream was to preserve the history of the Black community in her native Palm Beach County through careful and consistent collecting and archiving so that others could learn about and be part of this unique history. Through her efforts and with the support of key Palm Beach County individuals, the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum opened in July 2001.
DR. BARBARA SHULER
Dr. Shuler is the owner and CEO of Shuler’s Memorial Chapel. She served as a Miami Dade County Commissioner from 1980-2004 and was the first African American woman to hold the position of Chairperson of the Maimi Dade County Commission. During her 30 year career she was a teacher, counselor, administrator, university professor and assistant superintendent for Dade County Public Schools.
Colleen is a financial advisor who has experience in prospecting, sales, financial planning, training and staff development.
Larry owns and operates a boutique consulting firm that focuses on building capacity for cultural nonprofit organizations. Larry is formerly the founding director of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens where he stewarded the start-up and expansion of the only museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to deepening the understanding of Japanese culture and the Japanese-American heritage.
Early in her career, Nancy was a news reporter and magazine writer and she served for 15 years on the board of the Boca Raton Police Athletic League. Nancy’s fundraising and volunteer activities include work for The Crossroads Club, an assistant teacher at the Delray Full Service Center, and Living Hungry, a nonprofit that feeds homeless children. She is also a member of Delray Beach’s Homeless initiative.
Stacey is a former classroom teacher who specialized in test-taking strategies and college prep skills. Her professional experience includes creating curriculum and leading workshops for multi-day experiential learning conferences nationwide.
Lou is a senior credit analyst who recommends and manages long and short positions throughout the capital structure and across different georgraphies.
Elizabeth is the founder of The Life Edit Project and is a life coach and public speaker. Previously, she spent 18 years in the public and non-profit sectors as an conomic development professional.
Chris is the owner of Let’s Talk Innovation, an organzation that provides resources and funding to local small businesses.
