 Authors Speak Series

In an effort to celebrate and promote black cultural awareness, three of the most respected nonprofit organizations in Delray Beach are collaborating to present Authors Speak Series 2023. The three collaborating organizations are

  • The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, Inc.
  • The Arts Garage
  • The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency

The intention is the provide a safe space for the community to explore topics related to the Black experience in America that have been researched and written about by scholars around the country.

Chef Sam Woods joined the collaboration to provide plant-based lite bites that are not only a delicious addition to an already enriching experience, but are mindful of the diet of our African ancestors.

    Sip and See at Spady

This program was born out of the need to continue the enriching conversations sparked by tours of the Spady Museum’s exhibits. The history of the Black citizens of Delray Beach, Palm Beach County and the State of Florida and how that history connects to the wider narrative of American history is a broad topic that can require more time than a museum tour will allow. Sip and See at Spady is a monthly, 2-hour, social gathering that provides additional time to continue discussion of selected topics supplemented by scholars, documentaries, live presentations, publications and other source material.
